GMJFA Scholarship Policy
Purpose:
Green Mountain Junior Football Association wants to make available the opportunity for kids from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to play football. This assistance will be for registration fees and will be funded with monies from outside of registration fee revenue.
Maximum Number of Scholarships:
The maximum of scholarships per year will not exceed 10% of total registrations per year.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a scholarship the following criteria must be met:

Priority will be given to children living within the Green Mountain High School Articulation boundary. If sufficient funds are remaining, we will consider awarding scholarships to children outside of the articulation boundaries.

A written letter mailed to PO BOX 150310 Lakewood, CO 80215 or an e-mail to
requesting scholarship funds with reason why your player should receive scholarship must be received within a week of registering your player.

A 50% scholarship will be approved by the Executive Board upon meeting eligibilty requirements.

Families must be willing to volunteer a minimum of two hours to GMJFA, preferably with the child receiving the scholarship. The time donated must benefit the whole of GMJFA, not a specific team. Potential areas include but not limited to:
· Football Camp July 26-28, 2010
· Physicals July 29, 2010
· Weigh-ins August 21, 2010
· Equipment Sale July 24, 2010
· Carnation Bowl November 2010
· General Services throughout season
Scholarships will be on a first come first serve basis. There is only one scholarship per family per year unless there are additional funds remaining. This will be at the discretion of the GMJFA Board.
The GMJFA Board may choose to use any excess scholarship funds to award additional scholarships of up to 100% of registration or to assist in purchasing football gear for those players who are being scholarshipped.
Funding:
Funding will be done independently of registration fees. Some areas of funding will be:

Profits from apparel sales

Board members that chose to pay registration fee

Corporation donations to GMJFA (not specific team sponsorships)

Donation from other registration ( a donation box will be on the registration form)

Restaurant Sponsor night

Any additional funds collected for the Scholarship Fund by GMJFA
